Lighthouse Foster Care launches light-hearted animation campaign to address rising demand for foster families in Melbourne.
Lighthouse Foster Care has been paving a new way forward in the foster care sector with its unique Model of Care approach. They are on a mission is to find long term foster carers across Melbourne to help light up a child’s life and provide safe and loving homes for some of Victoria’s most vulnerable and at risk.
For 30 years Lighthouse Foundation has provided homes and therapeutic care programs to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness. Their focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and begin to heal from traumatic experiences. Their Model of Care has successfully transformed the lives of over 1,000 young people using a range of evidence-based strategies and has extended this into their rapidly growing Foster Care program over the past 18 months.
Commissioned by long term supporters, Quintessential Equity, Lighthouse Foster Care set about a strategy to create a light-hearted and warm approach to a serious subject. Rather than focus on the sad parts of why children and young people come into foster care, they decided to highlight the need in our communities for people to step up, create change and support each other.
‘It takes a village to raise a healthy child… so the saying goes and that is our focus. Educating people that they can help in the simplest of ways by learning more about becoming a Foster Carer and ways to help young people and families in their local communities’. (Kirsty Buchanan – Lighthouse Foster Care, Marketing and Recruitment)
Your Creative Agency took on the challenge set by Quintessential Equity and after initial discussions, agreed that an illustrative approach was the best way to convey the message.
‘With a focus on our brand and cultural values, we wanted to show homes lighting up with warmth and love in a village scene and illustrate Foster Care homes lighting up for children in need. The homes and carers are an inspiration to us. The work that these dedicated care teams perform day in, day out to help vulnerable young people with complex issues is worth every second of our group’s efforts. We wanted to visually show how you can see healing and ‘life ignite’ within them’. (Liz Indrans – AD at Your Creative)
‘Working with a truly talented design team in Anthony Pellegrino, Lead Designer and James Lim, Creative Director and backed up by Account & Project Manager, Liz Indrans, it was a rewarding collaborative process. ‘As a NFP organisation, we are gifted with support from many areas. The Team at Your Creative were just a delight to work with and just got what we needed intuitively’. (Kirsty Buchanan, Lighthouse Foster Care Head of Marketing and Recruitment)
Lighthouse’s Foster Care Hub home program offers regular respite and counselling services within a dedicated home. Funded by Quintessential Equity, the pilot Hub home is based in Ivanhoe East and provides a space where families can come to connect, reflect and grow together.
